Market participants are closely watching upcoming European PMI data and US economic indicators for further clues on global growth momentum and currency direction. Meanwhile, mixed signals across equities, commodities, and energy markets highlight a cautious trading environment driven by shifting monetary policy expectations and macroeconomic uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-usd-continues-to-strengthen\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>The USD continues to strengthen<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The USD continued to strengthen boosted by hawkish expectations for the Fed\u2019s intentions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Market attention today is expected to be placed on European preliminary PMI figures for June and a possible improvement of economic activity in the area could provide support for EUR. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, should Australia\u2019s CPI rates accelerate beyond market expectations we may see the Aussie getting some support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-mixed-signals-from-us-equities\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Mixed signals from US equities<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq ended their day in the reds as the market\u2019s hawkish expectations for the Fed tended to weigh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Declines by mega-cap tech companies like Amazon, Meta, NVIDIA and Google tended to weigh on the indexes. In the case of Alphabet the flight of key AI researchers was an additional reason for it\u2019s 5% drop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also, SpaceX with plans for a mega bond of $20billion, continues to lose ground as the initial enthusiasm of the IPO fizzle\u2019s out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-oil-prices-continue-to-fall\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Oil prices continue to fall<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Oil prices continued to fall yesterday, as signals of progress in the US-Iran negotiations spread further confidence that we are walking towards a reopening of the Straits of Hormuz and a normalization of the international oil market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The path towards that goal remains bumpy, yet the bearish sentiment is expected to be maintained should market\u2019s expectations for a normalization of the supply side of the oil market persist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-gold-s-bearish-tendencies-are-renewed\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong>Gold\u2019s bearish tendencies are renewed<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gold\u2019s bearish tendencies were renewed yesterday as the USD continued to strengthen and weighed on the precious metal\u2019s price. We still view the negative correlation of the USD with gold\u2019s price as being active. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Should market expectations for the Fed to tighten its monetary policy be maintained or even intensify, we may see gold\u2019s price ending in the reds again.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-other-highlights-for-today\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Other highlights for today<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today we get the UK\u2019s and the US\u2019s preliminary PMI figures, France\u2019s business climate, the UK\u2019s CPI trends of industrial orders and the US Richmond Fed Composite index all being for June while later on we get the US weekly crude oil inventories figure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On a monetary level, we note the release of BoE MPC member Taylor and\u00a0 BoC Governor Macklem speak. In tomorrow\u2019s Asian session, we get Japan\u2019s chain store sales, both for May, while BoJ is to release the summary of opinions for the June meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-charts-to-keep-an-eye-out\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Charts to keep an eye out<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-eur-usd\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>EUR\/USD<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>EUR\/USD<\/strong> continued to weaken teasing the 1.1410 (S1) support line. We remain bearish for the pair, given its direction and the bearish market sentiment indicated by the RSI indicator reaching the reading of 30. Yet the flirting off the lower Bollinger band by the pair\u2019s price action may slow down the bears. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Should the bears remain in charge of the pair\u2019s direction, we may see the EUR\/USD breaking the 1.1410 (S1) support lien and start aiming for the 1.1265 (S2) support level.
