This article will look at a variety of financial terms that begin with the letter U and conclude with the letter Z.

Uptick

Is a new higher price quote of a security’s price growth with respect to the preceding tick. Also known as a Plus Tick.

A linked dollar, euro, and yen symbolize the interconnectedness of these currencies in international financial markets.

Uptick Rule

The Uptick Rule is a regulation established by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It involves the sale of a security at a greater price than the preceding trade. Also referred to as the Plus Tick Rule.

Uptrend

An upward movement in the price action is caused by a sequence of successive higher peaks and subsequent higher falls. An uptrend indicates an optimistic attitude, implying that prices will rise. Traders search for pullbacks (brief price drops) along the trend line, among other things.

Underlying Assets

The asset upon which the price of a derivative is based. For example, an equity CFD on BHP has an underlying asset of a share of BHP.

Unconvertible Currency

A currency that cannot be exchanged for another due to foreign exchange regulations.

Unemployment Rate

The proportion of persons in the labour market who are deemed unemployed.

Unit

A unit of money that is extensively used. In forex trading, one USD unit equals one US dollar, whereas one EUR unit equals one Euro. One unit of JPY is equal to one Yen. In forex trading, one unit is the smallest trade size.

Unrealised Gain/Loss

The theoretical profit or loss on open positions valued at current market rates, as decided only by the broker. When a trade is ended, the unrealised gains’ losses become profits/losses.

VIX

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) Volatility Index (VIX) is often known as the “fear index.” It is the most well-known volatility index on the market, and it is used to track expected volatility on the S&P 500 index over the following 30 days.

Volatility

Volatility is a statistical indicator that shows how much an asset’s price moves around its average price. It typically refers to the uncertainty about the size of changes or fluctuations in the value of a securities.

Volume of Trade

Is the total number of shares or contracts exchanged between a buyer and a seller for a certain security during a given time period. Volume of trade is calculated on stocks, bonds, options contracts, futures contracts, and all commodity types.

Value Date

It is the day on which the counterparts to a financial transaction agree to complete their respective obligations, i.e., exchanging payments. Spot currency transactions value date is usually 2 business days ahead.

Variation Margin

Refers to the payment of gains or losses following the revaluation of a CFD contract. Open positions are revalued (or marked-to-market) on a daily basis for this reason.

Wedge

A chart pattern is formed by converging trend lines on a price chart. Technical analysts believe wedge-shaped trend lines to be useful indicators of a likely price reversal.

Whipsaw

Is a colloquial term denoting a highly volatile market situation in which a rapid price movement is quickly followed by a fast reversal?

Working Order

Is a catch-all word for either a stop or limit order. It is used to instruct your broker to execute a deal when an asset hits a certain price.

Wire Transfer

When money is electronically moved from one banking institution to another.

Wallet

A wallet is just a location where you may store your Bitcoin assets. There are three types of cryptocurrency wallets: Software wallets that may be installed on your PC. Mobile wallets are accessible for mobile devices. Web wallets are online wallets that can be accessed using any web browser. Paper wallets are created by printing your public and private keys (or QR codes) on a sheet of paper and protecting it in the traditional method. Hardware wallets are tiny USB devices that contain your private keys and must be connected to your computer in order for you to sign a transaction.

Working Day

A day when banks in a currency’s main financial centre are open for business. A working day for FX transactions happens only if both banks (or all relevant currency centres in the event of a cross) are open.

Wholesale prices

Calculates changes in the prices paid by retailers for completed items. Inflationary forces usually appear before headline retail prices.

XD

Is a symbol that appears in a trading platform or published report as a footnote or suffix to a ticker system. It is an abbreviation for ‘ex-dividend,’ which implies ‘without the dividend.’ When a company trades ex-dividend, it means that the present shareholder has received a recent dividend payment, and anybody who buys the shares will not get the dividend. As a result, the stock price will probably decline.

Xenocurrency

Is a currency that circulates or trades in markets outside of its own country. The name is derived from the Greek word ‘xéno,’ which means unusual or alien. A Japanese yen (JPY) placed into a European bank account or an Indian rupee (INR) transacted in the United States are two examples.

Xetra

Xetra is one of the world’s earliest electronic trading platforms, having debuted in 1997 in Frankfurt, Germany. It provides greater flexibility for seeing order depth inside markets and trades stocks, funds, bonds, and commodities contracts. Stock exchanges in Dublin, Vienna, and Shanghai are also using it at the moment.

XAG/USD

The symbol represents the Silver Index.

XAU/USD

The symbol represents the Gold Index.

XAG

Silver’s currency symbol. It is a valuable metal with the greatest electrical conduction capabilities of any metal. It is mostly employed in jewellery, photography, and scientific and industrial applications. It has previously served as the foundation for currencies. Silver is traded as a commodity on a number of stock markets and like many other precious metals, it is volatile but normally maintains relatively high prices.

X

It is a stock symbol on the NASDAQ. It represents a mutual fund.

XAX.X

The symbol for the AMEX Composite Index.

XE

XE is an abbreviation for Xpress Engine. It is one of the most popular financial websites, offering traders important tools.
